- SOMEONE ONCE SAID

In the 2022 midterms, over 9.5 million registered Texans didn’t vote - that's more than HALF of all registered voters. What was on the ballot?  In February 2021, the grid failed, and hundreds of Texans died.  In September 2021, women lost their right to self-determination.  And in May 2022, 19 students and 2 teachers were massacred at Robb Elementary.
Democratic view:  Government shouldn’t dictate women’s healthcare choices. Women can make their own decisions.
Republican view:  Texas has banned abortion without exceptions for rape & incest. No abortion until a woman’s life is in mortal danger.
Democratic view:  We need to maximize use of renewable energy and limit the release of greenhouse gases. It will create jobs and reduce pollution.
Republican view: Climate change is not caused by human activity.  Drill, baby, drill.

The Important Dates

You can fill out this online form to register.  You must print it, sign, and return it to your county’s Election office.  REGISTER TO VOTE

What Type of ID Do I Need to Register?

None, however, Texas’s voter registration form asks for your Texas driver’s license or ID number, or the last four digits of your Social Security number. Be sure to provide one of these numbers if you have it.  It will help election workers find you quicker in the database when you vote at the polls.

When you walk into the polling place, be sure to have your Texas driver's license or other approved ID ready to hand to the election worker. Note that you do NOT need your voter registration card to vote. Once the election worker confirms you're registered to vote, they will hand you a ballot. After that, another election worker will have you sign a log. You may be given a pencil so you can use it's eraser to make your selection on the touchscreen of the voting machine (a relic of the pandemic, but still good hygiene!)

There will be election workers who help you get to a voting machine.

   1. Once there, you will feed your ballot into the slot on the lower right of the voting machine (see arrow in image above).

   2. Then you will see the candidates on the ballot, and you can begin selecting your preferred candidates.

   3. Once completed, be sure to verify all your choices and then print your ballot.

Take your printed ballot to a machine (usually near the exit) and feed your ballot into the machine.  Once you've done that, an election worker will give you a "I Voted" sticker! Please remember the election workers are there to help you exercise your right to vote.
