Fourth Court of Appeals
The Fourth Court of Appeals has intermediate appellate jurisdiction of both civil and criminal cases appealed in thirty-two counties, located in South Texas and the Texas Hill Country. The Fourth Court of Appeals is comprised of seven Justices. Every registered voter in Bexar County will get to vote in these races.

Cynthia Marie Chapa (D): Justice Chapa was elected to the 288th Civil District Court in 2018. Prior to this, she worked state issues serving as State Representative Joaquin Castro and State Representative Justin Rodriguez's District Director from 2003 to 2017. Previously, she worked in a law firm and then in her own private practice. Justice Chapa earned her bachelor's degree and law degree from St. Mary's University. Todd McCray(R): McCray is presently in private practice representing individuals accused of crimes before State, Federal and Appellate Courts. He is Board Certified in Criminal Law and has served as lead prosecutor in both the Grayson County and Bexar County District Attorney Offices. Incumbent - Luz Elena Chapa (D): Justice Chapa was elected to serve on the Fourth Court of Appeals effective January 1, 2013, and when elected, she was the youngest appellate judge in the State of Texas. She was re-elected in 2018 and is currently serving her second term. Prior to her election, she practiced on both sides of the civil docket in counties across Texas. Lori Massey Brissette (R): Justice Brissette was appointed to serve on the Fourth Court of Appeals by Governor Abbott effective July 8, 2024 to fulfill the term left open by Justice Patricia Alvarez when she retired. Formerly, she was a judge of the 288th District Court, first appointed by Governor Perry and then elected twice. Incumbent - Liza Rodriguez (D): Prior to being elected to her current office in 2018, Justice Rodriguez was a solo practitioner with a focus on Criminal Defense and Family Law. She served as an Assistant District Attorney for ten years before going into private practice. She is a graduate of University of North Texas and St Mary's School of Law. Adrian Spears (R): Adrian Spears currently represents clients in general litigation with a primary focus on election law and appellate matters. In addition, he served as assistant City Attorney for several Texas cities, and as interim City Attorney and special counsel for Von Ormy, Texas. He is a former Municipal Court Judge for the Cities of Von Ormy and Castle Hills and current prosecutor for the City of Kyle.
