Incumbent Ted Cruz (R): In 2012, Cruz was elected to the U.S. Senate. He is running for his third term as a U.S. senator. Prior to this, Cruz worked in a private law firm. Colin Allred (D): In 2018, Allred was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. Prior to becoming a Congressman, Allred worked in the Obama administration, first in the Department of Housing and Urban Development and later in the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys. From 2007 to 2010, Allred played in the NFL for the Tennessee Titans. He received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University and his law degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Ted Brown (Libertarian): Brown has worked in the insurance industry most of his life and is currently self-employed as an independent insurance adjuster, specializing in auto, property, and general liability cases. He is currently Chairman of the Libertarian Party of Travis County, Candidate Coordinator for the Libertarian Party of Texas, and a member of the Texas State Libertarian Executive Committee (SLEC). Incumbent - Chip Roy (R): Roy has served as the U.S. Representative for CD21 since 2018. His committee assignments include the House Judiciary Committee and the House Veteran Affairs Committee. Prior to serving in the U.S. House, he served in multiple positions to include First Assistant Attorney General under Ken Paxton, Chief of Staff to Senator Ted Cruz, and senior advisor to Gov Rick Perry. Dr. Kristin Hook (D): Dr Hook grew up in a working class family in South Texas. She taught in New York City for three years as part of Teach for America. She spent several years working as the science and tech expert, but also worked policy issues for U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, the National Institue for Health, and the Government Accountability Office (GAO). Bob King (Libertarian): Prior to retiring. King worked as a banker, a corporate financial officer, and in a nonprofit as a program director and executive director.
